Snow Cat Down - 2008
snow cat down The patriarch of an Alaskan hoary marmot colony spends his day gallivanting around the slopes in search of excitement, usually of a sexual nature. A zebra is white with black stripes and a cheetah can never retract its claws. Giant anteaters are solitary far roaming creatures that run away on the sight of another while their tongues are so long they are attached to their sternums. Lemurs and hyenas run a matriarchal society that rights the female priority in feeding, grooming and sleeping sites. "Lemur" is Latin for ghost and their tails visually communicate with other prosimians. Each drawing in snow cat down captures a brief moment. The rules of normality are changed and the animal encounter becomes an exploration into possibilities and curious anomalies. While playing with the absurd, the works investigate the sinister relationships between bystanders, perpetrators and victims. Bystanders become victims and victims perpetrators. It is a fine line between the three and there are some hideous and interesting stories that lead to that point.
